AEW Dynamite Rundown
The Legend Returns: Chris Jericho Shocks Winnipeg
The night began with Tony Schiavone attempting to facilitate the AEW World Championship contract signing. However, the atmosphere shifted instantly when “Judas” echoed through the arena. After a year-long absence, Chris Jericho made his triumphant return to AEW. The “Ocho” didn’t need a long-winded promo to make an impact. As the crowd sang every word of his theme, Jericho stood in the ring, soaked in the adulation, and declared he was finally home.
This return adds a massive veteran presence back to the locker room just as the road to Dynasty heats up. Jericho exited to the back as “Judas” played once more, leaving fans wondering if he will target a specific title or faction in the coming weeks now that the Lionheart is officially back on the roster.
Chaos Backstage: Will Ospreay Targets the Death Riders
Before his scheduled match, Will Ospreay proved why he is the most unpredictable force in AEW. Attacking Jon Moxley backstage among the equipment and kegs showed a level of aggression we haven’t seen from the “Aerial Assassin” recently. Wheeler Yuta’s attempt to intervene only resulted in more collateral damage, highlighting Ospreay’s “one-man army” mentality.
Security was eventually able to peel Ospreay away, but the damage was done as he screamed threats toward the BCC leader. This segment was crucial because it added personal stakes to the later match with PAC, proving Ospreay is looking for blood rather than just a technical showcase.
Contract Signing: MJF and Kenny Omega Trade Barbs
The tension between MJF and Kenny Omega reached a breaking point during their official contract signing. MJF, ever the provocateur, mocked Omega’s health struggles, specifically citing his battle with diverticulitis and claiming Omega is a “false idol” on a “fast-winding clock.” Omega fired back with ice-cold composure, noting that while he may be missing part of his intestines, MJF is the one missing “balls.”
The segment nearly devolved into a brawl, but “Speedball” Mike Bailey intervened to cool Omega down. Bailey called out MJF’s ego, leading to the World Champion accepting a match for later in the evening. This set the stage for a massive Championship Eliminator match being sanctioned for the main event to satisfy the Winnipeg crowd.
Kenny Omega, Jack Perry & Brody King vs. The Demand
This six-man tag match was a showcase of AEW’s incredible roster depth. The Demand (Ricochet, Kaun, and Liona) worked as a cohesive unit, specifically isolating Jack Perry for a large portion of the match. Ricochet’s athleticism remains unparalleled, and his face-off with Omega provided the high-speed highlights that fans crave. The tide turned when Brody King entered the fray, using his raw power to compliment Omega’s precision.
The action spilled to the floor where National Champion Jack Perry took out the opposition with a massive moonsault. Inside the ring, King looked to dominate, but The Demand utilized quick tags and low-bridge tactics to regain control. The momentum shifted back and forth as all six men were eventually locked into a massive triple suplex by Omega and his teammates, drawing a massive “AEW” chant from the crowd.
The Demand continued to dominate Perry during the commercial break, but the resilient champion finally made the hot tag to Omega. The “God of Professional Wrestling” cleared house with snap-dragon suplexes on Ricochet and Kaun. After a chaotic sequence of dives and a 450 splash from Ricochet that Omega narrowly kicked out of, the match reached a fever pitch.
The finish saw a flurry of offense as Ricochet attempted to use the National Championship as a weapon while the ref was distracted. However, Perry intercepted him, allowing Omega to hit a V-Trigger followed by a devastating One-Winged Angel on Ricochet to secure the hard-fought victory for his team.
Winner: Kenny Omega, Jack Perry, and Brody King
The victory keeps Omega’s momentum high heading into Dynasty. After the match, the winners celebrated in the ring, but the post-match staredowns with The Demand suggest this rivalry is far from over as the factions continue to jockey for position.
TBS Champion Willow Nightingale Issues an Open Challenge
Backstage, the TBS Champion Willow Nightingale greeted the city of Winnipeg with her trademark energy. She announced that with a very special edition of Collision looming, she wanted to prove she is a fighting champion. Willow issued an open challenge for tomorrow night, stating she wants to wrestle the very best the AEW roster has to offer.
Nightingale emphasized that she isn’t looking for an easy night, but rather a fight that defines the prestige of the TBS title. This announcement has fans in Manitoba buzzing about who will step up to challenge the “Babe with the Power” on the special Thursday broadcast.
Adam Copeland and Christian Cage Hunt for FTR
In a tense backstage segment, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage were seen wielding chairs, looking for FTR. They eventually stormed into a locker room where they found Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero instead. Copeland made it clear that anyone in their way would pay the price, as they are hunting for Dax and Cash.
After learning FTR would be at Collision tomorrow, Cage and Copeland decided not to leave empty-handed. They brutally attacked Trent and Rocky with the chairs, sending a violent message to FTR that their arrival on Collision would be anything but peaceful.
Will Ospreay vs. PAC: The Bastard and The Assassin
PAC and Will Ospreay have a storied history, and this match lived up to the hype despite a pre-match ambush. PAC attacked Ospreay on the stage with a brainbuster, forcing the “Aerial Assassin” to wrestle with a severe neck disadvantage. Once the bell rang, PAC maintained the momentum, literally keeping his foot on Ospreay’s neck to exacerbate the damage.
Ospreay’s resilience was the story of the match as he fought through a DDT onto the floor and a bridging German Suplex. The two men exchanged stiff blows in the center of the ring, with Ospreay even landing a Styles Clash that he couldn’t immediately capitalize on due to his injuries. PAC responded by catching Ospreay with a top-rope hurricanrana and a Tombstone Piledriver that seemed to signal the end.
As PAC climbed for the Black Arrow, it looked like Ospreay was done. However, the drama peaked when PAC instead locked in The Brutalizer for nearly a full minute. It seemed Ospreay was out, but as PAC tried to re-position him away from the ropes, Ospreay showed incredible presence of mind to roll through the hold and bridge PAC for a desperate three-count.
Winner: Will Ospreay
The Death Riders swarmed the ring for a post-match beatdown until Jon Moxley stopped Claudio from using a chair. Moxley delivered a chilling warning to Ospreay, telling him to use his head before he loses it permanently.
Mina Shirakawa & Brawling Birds vs. Triangle of Madness
The technical prowess of Mina Shirakawa and the Brawling Birds (Hayter and Windsor) was on full display. Thekla mocked Shirakawa’s dancing early on, but Mina responded with a slingblade. The Triangle of Madness used the referee’s distraction to their advantage, with Thekla landing a double foot stomp on Shirakawa while she was draped over the apron to take control.
All six women eventually clashed in the ring, leading to a series of high-impact maneuvers that left everyone down. Windsor and Hayter worked together to clear Skye Blue and Julia Hart from the ring, while Shirakawa focused her efforts on the AEW Women’s World Champion. The technical wrestling was top-tier, showcasing the strength of the division.
The finish was chaotic, involving a disarmed brass knuckles attempt by Thekla. Windsor caught the champion, allowing Jamie Hayter to swoop in and lay out Julia Hart with a massive Hayterade. This allowed the Birds to secure the pinfall victory in front of the energized Winnipeg audience.
Winner: Mina Shirakawa and The Brawling Birds
The victory puts the Brawling Birds and Shirakawa in a prime position for title contention. Thekla clutched her title on the ramp after the match, looking visibly frustrated that her “Madness” was overcome by pure striking power.
Darby Allin Calls Out the Champ, Sees God
Darby Allin stood in the ring and demanded the production crew cut his music, radiating an intense energy. He called out MJF for hiding behind the Don Callis Family and stated he hasn’t “seen God” yet because he hasn’t been pushed to his absolute limit. Don Callis interrupted, revealing that MJF had paid the Family to do his dirty work.
Callis set a massive hurdle: a match against Andrade at Dynasty for a title shot. Brody King and Jack Perry eventually cleared the ring of the Family to stand by Darby, while Kenny Omega joined the commentary team to watch the main event.
Main Event: MJF vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey
MJF entered the ring draped in American iconography, playing the “American Hero” to a hostile crowd. Bailey’s speed caught the champion off guard, nearly scoring an upset with a standing Spanish Fly and a triangle moonsault to the floor. MJF relied on his typical heel tactics, raking Bailey’s eyes and using referee Bryce Remsburg as a human shield.
The two men traded massive power moves, including an insane powerbomb/backbreaker from MJF and a standing moonsault from Bailey. Speedball unleashed a series of kicks that stunned the champion, leading to an Ultima Weapon attempt that MJF barely dodged. The intensity grew as Bailey landed a snap-dragon suplex right out of Kenny Omega’s playbook.
The closing sequence was breathless as Bailey hit a spin kick to the chin and went for the double knees on the apron. However, MJF’s veteran instincts took over as he dodged the attack and nailed a Tombstone Piledriver on the apron. He quickly followed up with The Heatseeker back in the ring to put the challenger away while staring Omega dead in the eyes.
Winner: MJF
Following the three-count, MJF began a post-match assault on Bailey until Kenny Omega sprinted to the ring. MJF retreated up the ramp, holding his title high as the show went off the air.
