AEW Owen Hart Cup 2026 : Ospreay, Joe, Strickland, or King – Who Will Be the Winner?
AEW Owen Hart Cup 2026 : Ospreay, Joe, Strickland, or King – Who Will Be the Winner? The professional wrestling landscape is buzzing with anticipation as the 2026 AEW Owen Hart Cup tournament gets underway. With the finals taking place at Forbidden Door on June 28 inside San Jose’s SAP Center, the stakes are historically high. The ultimate winner of the men’s tournament will walk out with the prestigious trophy, the iconic Pink Jacket, and a guaranteed World Championship opportunity at All In: London in Wembley Stadium this August. While many traditional brackets look predictable on paper, a massive first-round shakeup is building that will alter the entire course of the summer.
First Round: Samoa Joe vs. Will Ospreay
The left side of the bracket features an immediate dream match scheduled for Double or Nothing, as Samoa Joe collides with Will Ospreay. Joe represents the ultimate, unyielding physical gatekeeper, but Ospreay is currently operating at an elite level that simply cannot be denied. Despite a grueling battle, Ospreay will manage to dig deep, fighting through Joe’s submission game to hit a decisive Hidden Blade and advance.
First Round: Mark Davis vs. Jack Perry
Following them, Mark Davis faces “Jungle” Jack Perry in a high-stakes encounter fueled by recent history, as Davis previously took the National Championship from Perry. Davis will look to use his powerhouse strength to dominate, but Perry, fully embracing his cold “Scapegoat” persona, will rely on underhanded tactics and referee distractions to secure a controversial victory.
First Round: Swerve Strickland vs. Bandido
On the right side of the bracket, Swerve Strickland finally goes one-on-one with the spectacular Bandido. Bandido’s breathtaking aerial offense will keep the crowd on their feet, but Swerve’s relentless, cold-blooded ring psychology will ultimately prove to be too much. Swerve will target Bandido’s arm before executing a definitive JML Driver to punch his ticket to the semi-finals.
First Round: Claudio Castagnoli vs. Brody King
The real structural shift in the tournament occurs when Claudio Castagnoli squares off against Brody King. Analysts heavily favor the Swiss powerhouse due to his unmatched technical athleticism and historical tournament success. However, this match will quickly devolve into a complete war of attrition.
When Claudio attempts his signature giant swing, the monstrous anchor of the House of Black will find a way to power out, blasting Claudio with a series of stiff lariats. Brody King will then shock the world, lifting the veteran up and driving him into the canvas with a brutal Gonzo Bomb to secure a clean, unexpected three-count victory.
Semi-Finals: Will Ospreay vs. Jack Perry
With the final four established, the tournament moves into a fascinating clash of ideologies in the first semi-final match. Jack Perry will utilize corporate opportunism and outside interference to try and derail Will Ospreay’s dream of headlining Wembley Stadium. However, the resilient spirit of the aerial assassin will shine through, allowing Ospreay to counter Perry’s offense into an unassisted OsCutter, sealing the win and keeping his momentum alive for the finals.
Semi-Finals: Swerve Strickland vs. Brody King
On the other side, Swerve Strickland faces an entirely different challenge in Brody King for the second semi-final spot. King will enter the match with immense confidence after dismantling Claudio, using his terrifying size to throw Swerve through ringside barricades.
Swerve’s superior wrestling IQ will ultimately save him. Realizing he cannot match King’s raw power, Swerve will systematically target the monster’s legs, wearing him down over a grueling contest. After a dynamic sequence of counters, Swerve will connect with a sharp House Call followed by a double stomp to the chest to finally keep the big man down for the three-count.
Finals: Swerve Strickland vs. Will Ospreay
The tournament culminates in a true marquee attraction in San Jose, as Will Ospreay goes one-on-one with Swerve Strickland in the grand finale. Both men understand exactly what it takes to carry the promotion on their backs. Swerve is driven by absolute dominance and the undeniable desire to reclaim his throne at the apex of the industry. Ospreay is fighting for country, legacy, and the ultimate homecoming in London.
The final match will be a masterclass, featuring a spectacular mix of high-speed aerial offense and methodical technical counters. The turning point arrives when Swerve attempts to capitalize on Ospreay’s damaged ribs, systematically taking control of the pace.
However, the sheer will and emotional resilience of the aerial assassin will carry him through the pain. In a breathtaking sequence of reversals, Ospreay will escape a JML Driver attempt, nail a devastating Hidden Blade, and follow it up with a definitive Storm Driver ’93 to secure the emotional victory.
Will Ospreay will stand tall as the 2026 Owen Hart Cup winner, capturing the ultimate tournament moment and punching his ticket to a monumental, high-stakes main event in front of his home crowd at Wembley Stadium this August.
