Former WWE Star Baron Corbin Makes Surprise - Bishop Dyer AEW Debut Before Dynamite
Baron Corbin Makes Surprise – Bishop Dyer AEW Debut Before Dynamite. The wrestling world was buzzing on Wednesday night as a familiar face walked through the curtain in Orlando. In a move that surprised the live crowd, the wrestler formerly known as Baron Corbin made his official Bishop Dyer AEW debut during the dark matches prior to the live Dynamite broadcast.
This appearance marks a significant step for the former WWE standout, who has been navigating the independent scene since his high-profile release. While rumors of his arrival have circulated for months, seeing him step inside an AEW ring has officially confirmed his interest in Tony Khan’s promotion.
Breaking Down the Dyer AEW Debut
The debut took place before the cameras started rolling for television. The man now calling himself Dyer participated in a chaotic eight-man tag team match. He didn’t come alone, however. Dyer teamed up with the tag team “Better Together”—comprising Hadar Horwitz and Ari Gold—and fellow former WWE alumni Martin Stone (formerly known as Danny Burch).
Despite the star power on their side, the result didn’t go their way. The quartet faced off against a babyface team consisting of Billy Gunn, Austin Gunn, Brady Booker, and Elijah Draco. In the end, the veteran Billy Gunn and his squad picked up the victory. However, reports from the arena indicate that Dyer received a strong reaction from the fans.
Attendees noted that the crowd recognized him immediately, with some chants referencing his “Big Breakfast” moniker. It appears that despite the name change, the charisma that made him a fixture on television for a decade remains intact.
Bishop Dyer A New Chapter After WWE
Since departing WWE, Dyer has not been sitting idle. In a previous interview with Chris Van Vliet, he expressed a strong desire to work everywhere, mentioning AEW, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and others as potential landing spots. While he hasn’t appeared in every single promotion, he has found success in key areas.
Currently, he holds the MLW Tag Team Championships alongside Dijak, proving he can still go at a high level. Additionally, he has been involved with Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling in Canada. This dark match appearance suggests he is now testing the waters with All Elite Wrestling.
It is worth noting that Dyer has cultivated a life outside the ring as well. He is a known “meatsmith” with a passion for cooking and owns a coffee company. As a result, he likely doesn’t need to wrestle every weekend to survive. This financial freedom allows him to be selective, making his choice to appear in AEW even more intriguing.
Baron Corbin Veteran Experience for the Roster
The potential signing of Dyer brings more than just name value; it brings a wealth of television experience. Having spent nearly a decade on global television, Dyer understands the “ins and outs” of working the hard cam, timing commercial breaks, and character work.
Many analysts believe he would be a perfect fit for the Ring of Honor brand. ROH has become a breeding ground for younger talent who are still polishing their TV skills. A veteran like Dyer, who was always willing to embarrass himself for the sake of a storyline during his “bum-ass Corbin” days, could be an invaluable teacher for the next generation.
”We need more heels like that, more heels who are willing to eat dirt and look silly,” noted one observer regarding Dyer’s previous work.
What’s Next for Dyer?
It remains to be seen if this dark match will lead to a full-time contract or an appearance on the main roster. There is speculation that he could fit seamlessly into factions like the Don Callis Family, or perhaps mentor a younger stable.
Furthermore, his connection to Martin Stone in this match suggests AEW might be looking at pairing him with established workers to bolster the tag division. With the Maple Leaf Pro and ROH joint shows coming up in March, fans might see more of Bishop Dyer sooner rather than later.
The Bishop Dyer AEW debut has certainly asked more questions than it answered, but one thing is clear: the “Lone Wolf” is hunting for new opportunities, and AEW might be his new home.
